So this poll just came out which said, essentially, that the people of the world hate us slightly less this year than they did last year.
Woo-hoo.
Some interesting stats:
North Korea is viewed as just barely “worse” than the U.S.A. Actually, they are perceived as having less of a negative influence than the U.S.A. — but their overall number is lower because their “positive influence” number is lower than ours. Something to be proud of. Takeaway message: If Kim Jong Il ever figures out how to make good movies or a hit record, we’re in deep shit.
Russia, you lucky dog! Somehow, you can have rigged elections and assassinate your political opponents, Bond-Villain-Style . . . and still be better liked than us.
But the best news?
Japan and Germany topped the list of most favorably-viewed nations. That’s right — the original Axis of Evil! I guess that there’s still hope for us to turn things around after all! And in only sixty years or so!!! Woohoo!!!
I’ve already reserved us a ballroom to “Celebrate in 2068″ at what by then will be a beautiful desert resort in Idaho…See you there!
